Woodpecker lineup* 

Downy- small with a short bill; outter tail feathers spotted; white stripe down the middle of back; shoulders are black, not barred ~6"; sparrow sized

Hairy - robin sized ~9"; larger than downy; longer bill. outter tail feather are unmarked; has a large bill almost as long as its entire head; the Downy's bill is tiny, less than half the length of its head

Red-bellied - medium sized; males have red crown and nape (not just red marking at the back of head); black and white barred  with pale belly; robin sized

Red-headed - head is entirely red; solid black back 

Pileated - one of the biggest, most striking forest birds; crow-sized; white-neck stripes; flaming red crest.
