What you really want to do

 T Bone Burnet says that the job of the artist to find out what s/he likes.  But it seems as though the common person struggles to find out what s/he likes, and instead, resorts to common bromides: bath bombs, poolside alcohol, Netflix binge-ing.  

During the pandemic, as people are at the end of their ropes, even the suggestion of self-care can be taken as toxic, another thing to do.   It's possible even that the call for self-care ignores or exacerbates underlying mental health issues.

Could it be that we have trouble identifying what we need?  That we are so busy, or beaten, or distracted, or non-reflective, that we don't know what we need?

In an interview following her book Love 2.0. Barbara says that she's discovered that running, but only in forests, make her feel better. Other types of running, while good for her cardiovascular system, aren't a balm to her.

What is the thing that refreshes, enlivens, vitalizes?  

What are the techniques that would help us discover what those things are?
