Going forward into unknown territory

Agnes Martin Untitled #1 - Walker Art Museum

Two thoughts on "adventure":

Abstract painter Agnes Martin on how to find adventure:

“To enjoy life, the adventurous state of mind must be grasped and maintained. The essential feature of adventure is that it is a going forward into unknown territory.”

From a random Threads account (vivek_soni).  This is one of those thoughts that I feel is right, but for maybe a different/adjacent reason (often I feel James Clear is this way).  His suggestion to "go outside... go for hikes, go on more... quests" etc. is exactly about "actively increase your surface area".... but the goal isn't for luck to hit, for me (though it is lucky!). I think it's a good idea; increasing surface area is a great term (maybe Emerson says something similar?)

The best thing you can do for yourself is actively increase your surface area for luck to hit you.

Go outside, travel more, go to new cafes, museums, events, take a new route home, go for hikes, see cities, countrysides, take your notebook, speak to people, ask questions, start businesses - go on more side quests.

You can literally just do things, and the more you do, the more serendipity and synchronicity will find you.
