Here's a report on 3x10 #1 of 2026. (#1 means it's aligned to Middle Season #1)
Just the numbers: In this first week of the year - half vacation, half back to school - I only get into the basement 5x. I write 10 haiku; I do guitar 8x; I do foot or weightlifting 0x
basement
Dad comes 2x (Jan 2 and 4 - Friday and Sunday) we install the majority of the ceiling drywall and 5 sheets on the walls. Friday was the only one where dad started late and stayed for lunch. Both days were 4+ hours. On days 8 and 10, I spend several hours (6? 8?) planning and building the shelving unit for the odd trapezoid-shaped closet using 99% scrapwood from the project, including the 1x4 wood that had been assembled into "support sticks" for installing ceiling drywall.
haiku
I continue with the discipline of a haiku every morning. I do 86th haiku in a row. (did I maybe miss one? if so, I didn't even realize it... it's a well-established habit. I feel like I need to continue going to the well to keep it flowing)
guitar
I start the year with a piece I've never attempted before - Study #13 - Carcassi, Op 60, No 6. It's fast moving! I find a video for it with a new YouTube guitar teacher. In the 8/10 days, I learn up to bar 32. I try to learn 8 bars and practice it 10x.... I don't always follow that discipline.
