I was thinking of ways to celebrate/mark the summer solstice. I decided to walk through neighborhood and Bemis to capture 10 different kinds of tree leaves. (The collage function in Google photos only allows you to assemble 9!)
Row 1: chinese lilac (in driveway), black walnut, basswood (blooming all over town now)
Row 2: Ginkgo, English Oak (?), Sugar Maple
Row 3: Bald cypress, bur oak, shagbark hickory
The project made me more aware of my surroundings while on my walk (even though I was listening to an audiobook for most of the walk). It also sent me to do research on distinguishing types of oaks... which was wading into a deep sea!
