A nearly put-out fire

Thinking of Pat Potokar - her "What Matters Project" that I took from her... the idea that she's continually "doing art," the credibility and the authetnticity that that provides. Provides inspiration for me to be working in some medium, with with words in some serious and long term way.

It strikes me now that I "want to write" or "make music," but I don't have any real exigence, internal or external to do so. It's on the level of "I should take up work working" or "tai chi." Listening to the Smiley and West podcast, there's so much passion, hope, indignation. 

I should be writing my philosophy of education, my book of poetry every month, songs, stories, novels, op ed pieces, what I know about education, throwing myself into long and short term projects, writing letters to the editor.

I am asleep; I am a nearly put-out fire.
