| Father Presta introducing mom and dad |
Mom and Dad were presented with the St. Emily Spirit Award yesterday. They are both involved in a number of volunteering -- garden club, bereavement, counting money, setting up church for variety of seasons. In the past, dad has "driven the oldies" to mass, helped in a number of ways in St. Vincent DePaul. I'm sure I only know part of it.
At the ceremony (which was a gala for St. Emily school) several people came to congratulate them and say hello to their kids. Each person had some connection to them and their volunteering.
I was imagining that the room had several Venn diagrams of people who had connections with them. They might know Frank and Sally and Ed from one volunteer group and Sally and Betty and Joseph from another. The interconnections were rich.
It's all for no money. And it's all essential to keeping this abstract thing (St. Emily's parish) alive. Without this help, it would wither. They help in a number of ways.
