    1. Squirrel "drey" - Squirrels bend and weave green twigs into a spherical shape at the juncture of small branches. Then, they fill it in with layers of leaves and other loose material such as vines, grass, bark, and even human litter like plastic bags and paper. Squirrel dreys are surprisingly secure and waterproof. Multiple nests are commonly built as a refuge from predators and as back-up in the event of a flea infestation. link

Salient -   standing out conspicuously : prominent; especially : of notable significant from  (1600-1700) Latin present participle of salire “to leap or to jump”; Today, salient is usually used to describe things that "leap out" in a figurative sense, such as the salient features of a painting or the salient points made in an essay or argument.
