Middle Season #31

This is the season when more and more trees empty, revealing what's been hiding in the branches - wasps nests appear, birds nests, squirrel condos.  Really just yesterday the silver maple (top left) dropped all leaves.  Sycamore trees, too, leaving thick crunchy carpets in parks and parkways.  The northern catalpas lost their leaves, but kept their "bean pods."  The back patio became a study in yellow and beige.  The tree in the back neighbor's yard was bright yellow and began getting redder.

The architecture of trees is revealed, too.  Tree personalities revealed.   Beeches, trim oaks, majestic and craggy oaks.  Bushes in the park reveal branches spiralling around each other.

There are so many leaves down.  Over the weekend, many streets are so crowded with leaves that streets become one-way.

This past ten days it's been unseasonably warm -- often mid 70s.  A couple days set high temp records.  Last night only got down to 68 degrees.
