Four Hours in the Park* Questions for Writing* Out of Breath*

Four Hours in the Park*

While on vacation in Door County, HG and JG were went golfing a couple times.  18 holes.  4-5 hours.  that gave me a chunk of time.  This summer, like last, I put together a "set list" of things to do (ride from Egg Harbor to Bailey's Harbor on EE, then out to Toft's Point after checking out the yacht club and looking for orchids along the way).  Then do the Toft's Point hike, but go further than last year: try to make it to the end, then take a different route (E), stop at the EH library, then go to the pizza/beer place.

The next day we went to Peninsula SP.  I had another 4 hour time slot.  Get a map, start planning out the trip after talking to the ranger -- first ride up this road, lock bike by eagle tower, take the  trail suggested by ranger, head downhill to beach, then... etc.

It felt like cramming as much stuff in the duffle bag as possible.

Out of Breathe*

On my bike ride to bluffs (~ 12 miles) the hills made me suck oxygen hard. Lungs at capacity -- gasping? not exactly -- maxing -- inhaling and expelling .  I felt virtous at the time (but ended up in bed with a stomach ache (related?) immediately afterwards.  I felt "how often am I out of breath, especially SO out of breath thiat it takes me some time to return to normal elevated breathing?  (meaning: just because I got to the top of the hill, I was back in normal breathing mode).  It was probably last summer while doing mile repeats.  What are the beenfits of getting out of breath?  THAT out of breath?
